Gerona Area Still on Generators

Posted on 19 March 2010 by dianew

Almost 2 weeks on, and the electricity companies have still not remedied the problem. It has been reported that up to 500 pylons were downed or damaged in the recent freak storm, and workers are fighting hard to get them up and running again. In the meantime, many towns and cities are still without mains power. This includes Lloret de Mar, where although everyone has power of some kind, it goes off from time to time when generators run out of fuel, or the demand is just too great for them to cope.    Several protests have taken place, and are still ongoing. The locals are not happy with the way things are being handled.

The weather however is back to normal, with the sun shining and warm.
