Ash Cloud On The Move

Posted on 09 May 2010 by dianew

Barcelona airport reopened last night at 22:00 hours and is operating this Sunday morning fairly normally although 23 flights have been cancelled; 13 departures and 10 arrivals. Girona and Sabadell airports also had to close for approximately 6 hours yesterday due to the volcanic ash cloud, but all are working again today, with Girona cancelling only three departures and two arrivals, and Reus cancelling two of each.
These cancellations are due to problems in other airports; in Galicia and some parts of Italy.
The only Spanish airports still closed this morning were in Galicia; Santiago de Compostela, A Coruña and Vigo, although they were due to be revised at lunchtime.
The ash cloud is moving across to other parts of Europe, which may again affect flights into and out of Spain.
